Read United provides a structured tutoring model that supports accurate and fluent reading for students. Through a partnership with United Way of Central Georgia, Communities In Schools of Milledgeville/Baldwin County implements this program at Baldwin County’s two primary schools. The tutoring session is 30-minutes and includes a student check-in, reading fluency exercises, review of the content, a read aloud by the tutor, and a closing. This model has proven to be most effective for students in kindergarten through 3rdgrade. United Way of Central Georgia provides leveled reading materials and training to equip CIS Site Coordinators and Tutors to best support students in their literacy efforts.
